***

iPeace is a growing organization with an ambitious vision to enhance the culture of peace in the Great Lakes region through widespread Human Rights and Good Governance. Almost all its staff work are volunteers working on a part time basis. Therefore, there is a big room for dedicated interns who would like to contribute their time, skills, knowledge, and know-how for poor and vulnerable people that iPeace works with.

International interns are accepted primarily through our partners. In case this is not possible, the international candidate for internship will need to submit the following:
   - correctly filled the online application form,
   - 2 recommendation letters,
   - short CV (2 pages max),

   - an irreversible commitment to comply with iPeace's Equal Opportunity Policy**

Internship is offered for a period going from 2 month to 6 months. Currently the organization can only receive two (2) international interns a year. The internship is granted basing of the candidate's merits. Unless stated otherwise, the deadline to apply is September 30 for internship starting in February the following year, and February 28 for internship starting in June of the same year. Through our partners in the Great Lakes region, an intern may choose to do his/her internship either in Rwanda, Burundi or in Eastern D.R. Congo. Please click on the thumbnail above (Open positions) to see available internship position.

The candidate is responsible for visa arrangements abroad. However, iPeace's staff may assist the intern in finding required permits once in the host country. The intern is supposed to be self-sufficient as iPeace does not have budget to financially support in any way. Interns are also encouraged to secure their own health insurance and take all other necessary measures before going to their internship host country. More information can be found in the Internship Guide, available for selected interns.

Students from Burundi, Congo DR, and Rwanda who have successfully completed at least 3 years of post-secondary studies are eligible for a maximum of 3 months of internship with iPeace. They need to fulfill the conditions required from an international candidate applying directly to iPeace, save the contribution to Equal Opportunity Policy.

** This contribution is not needed when an international candidate applies for internship through iPeace partners.

Mallory Minter was the first international intern at iPeace. She spent three months from June 6th to August 21st, 2012. Please click here to find what Mallory achieved during her internship.

I fully enjoyed my time with iPeace (...) and I take away many fond memories from this past summer. Over this next year and hopefully well into the future, I will continue to work with iPeace as an ambassador.
